Advanced cancer care from compassionate experts

Cancer Care at Mount Auburn Hospital

At Mount Auburn Hospital, we provide you with the very best in cancer care. Our comprehensive care includes screening & diagnosis, genetic testing, advanced cancer treatments and support and survivorship services. We’re also happy to provide second opinions if you’ve been seen elsewhere. No matter where you’re at in your cancer journey, we’re ready to help.

As a Harvard-affiliated hospital, we regularly train residents who become tomorrow’s physicians. That means we offer the latest treatments and technology. We’re able to provide you with the same care you’d receive at a larger hospital.

Expertise with a Human Touch

Our doctors are experts in cancer treatment, but we're also dedicated to your comfort and well-being. We’ve created an environment designed to ease your mind as we work to heal your body. Our cancer center features a tranquil, plant-filled solarium that looks out over the Charles River. We also offer free wellness programs for both you and your caregivers through the Herzstein Wellness Center.

During your time at Mount Auburn Hospital, you can count on us to listen to your questions, concerns and hopes for the future. Our goal is to deliver clinical excellence with a human touch. All of our providers care deeply about our work and our patients. We incorporate a team model for each patient which includes an oncology physician, nurse practitioner, nurse navigator, treatment nurse if needed, medical assistant, and medical secretary. You will get to know us, as we get to know you.

An Expert Team Focused On You

Our board-certified physicians are regularly named among the best in Boston. We choose to practice at Mount Auburn because of the close-knit community and warm, collegial atmosphere we’ve created. Our doctors work well together and collaborate to ensure your needs are met. We know you, too, by name — not by your cancer.

Tumor Boards

Through our general oncology and breast cancer tumor boards, our doctors review your case. Then, with each contributing their own expertise, we'll make recommendations for your care. Those recommendations are personalized for you based on the type of cancer you have, its stage, your overall health and your personal preferences. With our specialists in surgery, medical oncology, pathology, interventional radiology and radiation oncology, you can feel confident you’re in excellent hands.

Your Oncology Team

At Mount Auburn Hospital, you benefit from our Oncology Team model of care. The team includes:

  • A medical assistant
  • A social worker
  • An administrative assistant
  • An oncologist
  • An oncology nurse navigator
  • An oncology nurse practitioner
  • An oncology pharmacist

If needed, we can also bring in cancer specialists in genetics, nutrition and physical therapy/rehabilitation. Those specialists make up your cancer team, ready to help you at any time. We try to make things as easy as possible, so you know exactly who to turn to if you have questions or concerns about your treatment.

Nurse Navigators

From the moment you learn you might have cancer, our nurse navigators are ready to help. We guide you through what comes next and help ease your worry so you can focus on what is most important — healing.

Nurse navigators guide you forward and act as your advocate. You can count on them to:

  • Arrange medical appointments
  • Connect you with support services and community resources
  • Encourage you to take an active role in your care and decision-making
  • Explain diagnostic procedures and treatment options
  • Refer you or your relatives to genetic testing when appropriate
