CT Scans at Mount Auburn Hospital

Computed tomography (CT) scans are used to help your doctor understand what’s going on inside your body. This type of scan uses powerful technology to take multiple X-rays from different angles. Then, a computer puts the X-rays together to create cross-sections, or slices, that help your doctor get a clear view of the area of your body being studied.

When you come to Mount Auburn Hospital for a CT scan, you’ll work with an expert imaging team that can interpret your results and help plan your care.

A CT scan can help diagnose a variety of conditions:

  • Blood disorders, including blood flow problems
  • Conditions affecting internal organs, including your heart, brain, lungs, kidneys and liver
  • Dental problems
  • Internal bleeding and blood clots
  • Spinal conditions
  • Tumors, cancer and cysts

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan

We also offer positron emission tomography (PET) scans. These offer a more detailed look at the inside of your body. A PET scan provides information about abnormal behavior of your organs or other areas of the body. A combined PET-CT scan can help screen for conditions like cancer.
