Advanced Breast Health Imaging

At Mount Auburn Hospital, you and your doctors have access to the full range of advanced screening and diagnostic imaging technology, including:

Find Breast Cancer Early

The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms beginning at age 45, with an option to start at age 40. These screening mammograms can find breast cancer before symptoms appear — when it's easier to treat.

People with certain risk factors should begin screening mammograms sooner. Speak with your doctor about the mammogram schedule that's right for you.

Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Mammogram)

Breast tomosynthesis, or 3D mammography, is available to everyone getting a screening mammogram at Mount Auburn Hospital. We were among the first hospitals in the country to adopt this technology. During a 3D mammogram, the mammogram equipment takes many low-dose X-ray pictures of the breast. These X-ray images allow your doctor to see inside the breast more clearly.

Experts in Early Detection
When you choose Mount Auburn Hospital for your annual screening, you benefit from the expertise of attentive radiologists who interpret more than 20,000 mammograms a year. We detect breast cancer in its earliest stages at rates higher than the national average.
Dense Breast Tissue Notification
When you get a mammogram at Mount Auburn Hospital, our team will inform you if you have dense breast tissue. Because dense breast tissue can make cancer more difficult to detect, your doctor may recommend additional screening tests, such as an ultrasound or MRI.
