Financial Information for Dietetic Internship

Tuition is $1,200 and due upon the intern’s acceptance of admission.

Dietetic interns at Mount Auburn Hospital receive:

• A monthly stipend of $390 ($3900 annually).
• One meal per day.
• Two lab coats.
• Reimbursement for professional liability insurance.
• Registration for a Boston Children’s Hospital conference.
• Time off: One week of vacation at Christmas, eight holidays and four sick or personal days.

Scholarships are available from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and through some state dietetic associations, including the Massachusetts Dietetic Association. Visit their websites for information.

At this time, Mount Auburn Hospital does not offer financial aid to dietetic interns. However, dietetic interns are considered full-time graduate students according to the Federal Student Aid and Student Loan guidelines. Therefore, you may be considered eligible to defer any current student loans.

Interns are responsible for their living expenses, including any relocation costs. Plan ahead for the following estimated expenses.

• Housing. Rent in or near Cambridge is $800 to $1,300 a month. We can help you find a roommate by putting you in touch with other Boston-area interns. Learn about living in Cambridge.
• Transportation. Automobile costs vary and employee parking is $8 per week. Public transportation is available from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), which offers discounted monthly passes for approximately $50 per month.
• Health insurance. Mount Auburn Hospital offers individual plans for $22 to $80 per week.
