Bypass Heart Surgery: One Patient's Experience
About Susan's Success Story
Susan was finding herself short of breath more and more often as she played with her 11 grandchildren, and was even struggling for breath when she lay down at night. Her primary care doctor ordered a stress test which rapidly led to a triple bypass heart surgery at Mount Auburn Hospital with Dr. Louis Chu.
“Everyone was so wonderful,” Susan said, “It was almost unbelievable how kind they all were.” She said that while her children were worried about her, she herself never worried because she felt in such good hands with Dr. Chu and his team.
“It takes a lot of people to provide care like this. One of the providers even took the time to help me apply for medical leave from work to recover. I didn’t even know that existed!”
She was so happy with her providers, she took pictures of everyone she could and made two photo albums – one to keep and one she presented to Dr. Chu when she went back for a follow-up appointment. “He was so surprised. But I wanted to show how much I appreciated them. I felt such warmth at Mount Auburn.”
“I feel so much better now, and I’m busier than I’ve ever been,” said Susan. “Thank you to all my providers for giving me more time!”
