Brett Young, MD, Named Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Auburn Hospital
Cambridge, MA – Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH) has named Brett C. Young, MD, FACOG, as the new Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Young has served as interim chair of the department since September 2023, and previously joined Mount Auburn in 2018 as director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Services.
“Brett is a compassionate caregiver, an accomplished researcher, and a proven leader. We are fortunate to have her in this new role,” said Ed Huang, MD, president, Mount Auburn Hospital. “I have no doubt she will be successful as chair of the department, helping to guide our clinicians as we deliver extraordinary care to all of our patients.”
In addition to serving as the director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Services, Young has also served in various leadership positions in maternal and fetal health at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since 2009. Young is also an assistant professor of gynecology and reproductive biology at Harvard Medical School.

Young graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology and earned her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has mentored medical students residents, fellows, and faculty members, is a sought-after speaker across the country, and has published extensively focusing on medical education and hematologic disorders in pregnancy. She is nationally recognized as an academic clinician for pregnant patients with obstetrical complications and maternal and fetal disorders.
