Mount Auburn Hospital Completes Emergency Department Renovations
Modernized Department Provides Expanded Access for Community
Cambridge, MA – Mount Auburn Hospital has completed a multi-year project to modernize the hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) and meet the evolving needs of the community.
“We are excited to open this space at Mount Auburn, which is transforming the way we provide emergency care,” said Ed Huang, President, Mount Auburn Hospital. “Patients in Cambridge and the surrounding communities will benefit from the enhanced level of care we are able to provide in the community with our modernized Emergency Department.”
“Our redesigned treatment space will better connect patients with the right care,” said Christopher Fischer, MD, Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine, Mount Auburn Hospital. “We are grateful for the generous support we have received from the community for this project.”
The ED is organized to ensure patients receive the accurate level of care in a timely manner. Using a new rapid intake and care delivery process, each patient arriving in the ED will be swiftly evaluated and treated, reducing wait times. A new fast-track area will allow patients with minor illnesses or injuries to be evaluated, treated and released quickly and safely. An enlarged resuscitation care area will allow critical cases to receive enhanced care.
The ED is located near operating rooms, radiology and interventional cardiology, providing for timely transitions for patients, if needed.
The renovations also included a redesigned reception area to allow for improved access and a more welcoming environment.
