Real Estate Gift Propels Mount Auburn Hospital’s Cardiovascular Program Forward

Cambridge, MA — Mount Auburn Hospital has received a transformational $5 million real estate gift to support its heart and vascular program. Made anonymously, the gift is the second largest in Mount Auburn’s history and will help advance exceptional patient care within the hospital’s expanding cardiovascular program.

“This gift marks a defining moment for Mount Auburn Hospital,” said Ed Huang, MD, president of Mount Auburn. “It builds on our proud tradition of clinical excellence and fuels our vision for the future — ensuring that patients across Greater Boston have access to world-class cardiovascular care close to home.”

In recent years, Mount Auburn has made significant investments in its cardiology services, expanding its cardiac catheterization capabilities, modernizing procedures and surgical spaces, and recruiting leading cardiology specialists to meet growing demand. The hospital has also strengthened its programs through new technology and continued program development, including recognition for high-quality heart care. This recent contribution will build on the department’s momentum, helping the hospital continue to expand its offerings in response to patients’ increasing needs.

“Philanthropy has played a pivotal role in the growth of our program, including the renovation of our cardiac catheterization lab,” said Kyle K. Pond, MD, chief of the Department of Cardiology at Mount Auburn. “This extraordinary generosity from a donor in our Mount Auburn community will provide the ability to make critical upgrades to our programs, giving our staff access to the best equipment and training, and our patients access to the best possible care."

Gifts of real estate are an increasingly powerful form of charitable giving, enabling donors to make a lasting difference while maximizing the value of their assets. These types of contributions may include residences, vacation homes, or commercial properties, and when integrated into estate or planned giving strategies, they create enduring legacies that advance the future of health care.

“Real estate gifts like this demonstrate the creativity and impact of modern philanthropy,” said Martin Richman, vice president of Philanthropy at Mount Auburn. “We are deeply grateful to the donor, a proud member of the Mount Auburn community, for expressing appreciation for their local hospital through this remarkable gift, which will directly benefit our patients and families.”
