Linda Wendell, MD, Named Chief of the Division of Neurology at Mount Auburn Hospital
Cambridge, Mass. – Linda Wendell, MD, has been named Chief of the Division of Neurology at Mount Auburn Hospital. Wendell comes to Mount Auburn after 12 years at Rhode Island Hospital, and will lead the department’s patient care, clinical research and medical education programs.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Wendell to the Mount Auburn community,” said Chad Wable, president of Mount Auburn Hospital. “Dr. Wendell is known for providing compassionate, exceptional care to her patients and is a highly respected educator in the field of neurology.”
Wendell is an accomplished neurocritical care physician with leadership experience in clinical care, quality and medical education. She has received numerous awards at Brown University and through the American Academy of Neurology for teaching, clinical care, and clinical leadership.

Wendell received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee and completed her internship and residency in neurology at Rhode Island Hospital. She also completed a fellowship in neurocritical care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She then returned to Rhode Island Hospital, where she has worked as an inpatient neurologist and neurointensivist for the past 12 years.
In 2018, Wendell completed a leadership training program at Brown University and applied her leadership experience as chair of the interdisciplinary Neurocritical Care Unit Council and as a member of the Stroke Center Executive Committee, both at Rhode Island Hospital. In her roles, she led the development and implementation of numerous clinical protocols and pathways. Wendell also served on the Brown Neurology Board of Directors from 2015-2020.
Throughout her career, Wendell has been recognized as an exceptional teacher with extensive leadership experience in undergraduate and graduate medical education, including serving as Vice Chair of Neurology for Education at Brown University. She has created a neurology clerkship and electives, served on dozens of committees and councils, and developed and implemented a neurocritical care curriculum for residents and advanced care practitioners.
