Richa Tandon, MD, named chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Mount Auburn Hospital
Cambridge, Mass. – Richa Tandon, MD, has been named chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Mount Auburn Hospital. Tandon will also serve as the hospital’s epidemiologist.
“Dr. Tandon has an exemplary clinical and academic background in infectious diseases,” said Edwin Huang, MD, interim president of Mount Auburn Hospital. “Particularly as we continue to face the challenges of COVID-19, Dr. Tandon’s expertise, leadership and guidance will be of great value to Mount Auburn Hospital and the community. We are excited to welcome her into this role.”
Tandon grew up in India and attended Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Karnataka, India. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in 2005, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases at Boston University, where she remained on staff for eight years. In 2013, she transitioned to Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island, where she has served as associate program director of the Infectious Disease Fellowship, medical director for Infection Prevention and Control, co-chair of Antibiotic Stewardship Committee, and chief for the Division Infectious Diseases. As division chief, Tandon developed a robust ambulatory clinic, established programs with urgent care and post-acute care facilities, and served as a mentor and teacher within the residency program at Boston University Medical School. She recently received Fellow status with the Infectious Disease Society of America. Additionally, she has participated in numerous research studies, including serving as co-investigator on HIV research studies.
