Advanced internal imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans offer a unique look at the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays, which use radiation, MRIs use magnets to create detailed images. These images can help your doctor identify a range of health problems and help ensure you receive the right care at the right time.
At Mount Auburn Hospital, our imaging team uses both 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla MRI scanners, the most powerful types of MRI. These machines are designed to produce high-quality imaging in a comfortable environment. Each MRI offers “feet first” whole-body scanning. A feet-first approach can help if you are claustrophobic or overweight.
Having metal on your body can affect the quality of images. But some metal objects, such as prosthetics, can’t be removed. That's why our MRIs are equipped with metal artifact reduction technology. These tools reduce how much metal affects your images.
We offer the following types of special MRI imaging:
Your provider may order an MRI as part of your diagnosis or treatment plan. Our radiologists work with other specialists at Mount Auburn Hospital to ensure you get the care that fits your needs.
